Description:
Nativity with wise men. This beautifully-illustrated manuscript Book of Hours of the Use of Rome was produced in Flanders in the late 15th century. Its small size made it ideal for holding in the palm of the hand for private prayer. Richly illustrated with tree, floral, bird, and insect motifs in all full page borders. The page shown depicts the nativity scene with the three wise men. One of fourteen MSS, eleven of which were Books of Hours, by James Cathcart White in the January of 1943. MS 312 was rebound by Douglas Cokerell and Son in 1958.
