Provenance Notes:
First part of the manuscript written in the last quarter of the 15th century in Scotland with many later editions. The earliest mark of ownership is a Latin inscription declaring that the book belonged to Jacob Fletchir in the late 15th century. In the latter part of the 16th century it belonged to Thomas Scott, who was given it by his father, David Scott of Spencerfield, whose arms appear on f. 87 with the date 1575. It later passed into the hands of David Gybsoune, and further to a Magister Robert Dawing. On a fly-leaf is the name Allexander Colvil, who was the Commendator of the Culross from 1566-1580. From this name the manuscript gets its title. In 1817 it passed through three further owners, finally ending up with Mr. J. A. Maconachie, who passed it to Laing.
