Description:
Depicts a view of Loch Lomond from Dumbarton, with Ben Lomond in the background. Ben Lomond and Loch Lomond form a dramatic part of the scenery in a number of Sir Walter Scott's works, including Rob Roy (1817) and The Lady of the Lake (1810), where Roderick Dhu is portrayed as 'the terror of Loch Lomond's side' (canto II, stanza XI, line 14). Scott visited the Loch with his wife in the summers of 1809, 1816, and 1817.
