Description:
Depicts the south face of Ben Lawers as seen from Loch Tay, Perthshire. In ch. 27 of Sir Walter Scott's The Fair Maid of Perth (1828), the mountains seen from the north bank of Loch Tay are likened to a 'clan of Titans [...] commanded by their appropriate chieftains -- the frowning mountain of Ben Lawers, and the still more lofty eminence of Ben Mohr'. The original steel engraving was made for the Abbotsford Edition of the Waverley Novels (1842-1847).
