Engraved portrait of the British naval officer Sir Andrew Snape Douglas. As Captain of the 'Queen Charlotte', Sir Andrew Snape Douglas fought in the Glorious First on 1 June 1794 and at the Battle of Groix on 23 June 1795. In the latter he suffered a head wound from which he would eventually die. Douglas also sat on the Court Martial that tried the Bounty mutineers. The portrait was probably engraved by the miniature painter and engraver Daniel Orme after his own design.
